The Ground Systems Engineer will support the Satellite Communications Program Office (PMW-146) and PEOP Space Systems. The Engineer will advise and assist the Assistant Program Manager for the Satellite Control Segment in the MUOS prime and sub contractor oversight and provide analysis and recommendations to ensure the successful fielding of the MUOS satellite control segment of the Mobile User Objective Satellite MUOS system.
The candidate will be part of a Satellite Communications team supporting test, installation and training of a military SATCOM ground system at multiple sites. The candidate will participate in multidisciplinary oversight and support of Satellite communications ground system design, production, integration and test research and test evaluation. The candidate will collaborate with government team members, software engineers, equipment designers and hardware engineers in the planning, design, development of ground systems associated with the MUOS program ground system development and integration at the the client's Satellite Operations Center.
The Ground Engineer will perform the following activities and tasks:
- Review and Comment on Test Plans, Test Descriptions and Test Reports (includes participation in shoulder-to-shoulder reviews and CDRL comment submission)
- Provide input to DT Test Plans and DT Test Reports
- Support ground system integration at multiple sites and support System Readiness Reviews
- Serve as a Government witness to satellite control system integration and testing
- Act as liaison between Satellite Control Segment IPT and other program IPTs
- Analyze test metrics and maturity report results
- Raise issues/potential risks (cost, schedule, and/or performance) related to ground system integration
Travel to different work locations may be required. Sites may include but are not limited to: PT Mugu, CA, Colorado Springs, CO, Sunnyvale, CA and Scottsdale, AZ.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Top Secret clearance - active or capable of obtaining
- BS Degree in Info Systems, CS or Electrical Engineering
- 5 yrs Military SATCOM (MILSATCOM) operations, engineering, configuring, planning and/or maintenance
Preferred Skills
- Narrowband (UHF) SATCOM
- Working knowledge of mobile user tactical communications
- Knowledge of AFSCN process and design
- Knowledge in 3G Wireless Telecommunications Technology for conducting design reviews and approving deliverables
- Test knowledge of testing either software or hardware
- Experience in test plans, test equipment design, and review of requirement testing.
