Job Description
A Program Manager Level I requires excellent project management, collaboration, communication and leadership capabilities. The manager will have an enthusiasm for helping others succeed, and demonstrated creativity and experience. Strong communication skills, solid design skills, and the ability to think critically and come up with creative solutions to problems are essential. Must have strong leadership skills and be able to own all aspects of a project. The successful candidate will have proven ability to work across divisions as well as the ability to provide organizational leadership.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Monitor implementation (planning through delivery) of a small to medium product or program
- Act as “hub,” collecting information from the internal project team and communicating status to project management, other Microsoft teams and external vendors
- Provide business owners and product management technical and analytical information
- Provide internal team with overall team status and updates from other Microsoft groups
- Provide input to functional specifications and detailed system design, ensures spec is agreed to and is supported by the project schedule
- Facilitate issues resolution and trade-off decisions with other teams, senior management and business owners
- Document, communicate and administer key project management (e.g. scope, schedule, issue, risk, quality, and communication)
- Manage actual project cost to the budget
- Manage the work of cross-functional teams implementing technologies and systems solutions involving multiple components, interfaces and user groups
- Prepare presentations to communicate project goals
- Conduct post-mortem review of project and provide feedback on delivery approach

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- One year of experience of Program Management related experience
- Bachelor's degree
- One year experience in project planning
- One year experience using MS Project to manage tasks
Professional Skill Requirements
- One year of Program Management related experience
- Experience in project planning and using MS Project to manage tasks
- Solid understanding of software architectures, MS Products, software and development lifecycle
- Ability to lead and manage team efforts, strong team building skills
- Ability to work within a budget and direct day to day activities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Sound judgment, analytical skills, decision-making skills and the ability to work under continual deadline pressure required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- May require specialized knowledge as defined by project
