DevOps Engineer - Data Migration Project (Permanent)

Location: Remote with occasional Travel to London and other locations Country: UK Rate: £75K to £80K per annum
 

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to join our data migration project, which aims to transition data from Legacy databases to the AWS cloud. This role is specifically for candidates who either have or are eligible for SC clearance. The DevOps Engineer will focus on building and maintaining the infrastructure and automation required to ensure a smooth, secure, and efficient migration process.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Infrastructure Management:
    • Design, implement, and manage scalable AWS infrastructure tailored for data migration and cloud storage.
    • Develop infrastructure-as-code solutions to provision and manage cloud resources efficiently.
  2. Automation and CI/CD Pipelines:
    • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automating data migration processes, deployments, and testing.
    • Ensure seamless integration of automation workflows with existing development and testing frameworks.
  3. Monitoring and Logging:
    • Implement robust monitoring and logging solutions to maintain high availability and identify issues in Real Time.
    • Analyse performance metrics and logs to proactively improve system performance and reliability.
  4. Security and Compliance:
    • Implement security best practices to safeguard sensitive data during migration.
    • Work closely with the security team to ensure compliance with internal security standards and regulatory requirements.
  5. Collaboration and Support:
    • Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams to align the DevOps framework with the overall project architecture.
    • Provide technical support for the development, testing, and deployment of migration solutions.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing.
    • Report project progress and technical issues to the DevOps Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in DevOps engineering, with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS).
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or CircleCI.
  • Strong Scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation.
  • Eligibility for SC clearance or existing SC clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • AWS certification (eg, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Experience with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance.
