Digital Skills is partnering with a leading consultancy engaged in a critical program within a central government department. We are currently seeking an experienced Cloud Test Environment Manager to join our client's team. This pivotal role entails overseeing and optimizing cloud-based test environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in configuring, maintaining, and enhancing cloud setups to support testing and development activities. Additionally, you should possess strong project management skills to effectively handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

The company provides services to a range of end clients, including the UK Public Sector. As such, candidates must be available to undergo Government SC Security Clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Configuration: Craft, configure, and oversee cloud test environments tailored to support the development and testing of expansive integrated software products.
  • Collaboration and Requirement Understanding: Collaborate closely with IT, software development, and quality assurance teams to comprehensively grasp their requirements, ensuring environments meet their testing needs, including mapping third-party integrations to suitable test environments.
  • Provisioning and Deployment Strategies: Develop and execute strategies for efficiently provisioning, deploying, and decommissioning test environments, prioritizing automation and scalability.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize cloud environment performance, cost, and security parameters to maintain optimal operational efficiency.
  • Continuous Availability and Troubleshooting: Ensure uninterrupted availability of critical test environments, promptly addressing and troubleshooting any arising issues.
  • Accessibility and Scalability: Ensure test environments are easily accessible and scalable, with robust security and network infrastructure in place to support remote and distributed teams.
  • Data and Access Alignment: Align test data and user access requirements across multiple cloud environments to maintain consistency and integrity.
  • Continuous Learning and Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest developments in cloud technology and testing practices to continually enhance the effectiveness of testing environments.
  • Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with vendors and service providers to enhance cloud solutions and swiftly resolve any issues related to cloud environments.
  • Release Governance Management: Manage release governance for all test environments, liaising with environment owners, DevOps, delivery teams, and stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and alignment.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Collaborative Team Player: Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and stakeholders.
  • Budget Management: Experience in optimizing budgets for cloud test environments.
  • Configuration Management: Proficient in recording and maintaining environment baseline configurations with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Analytical Problem-Solver: Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve issues in test environments with a methodical and analytical approach.
  • Project Management Expertise: Extensive experience managing complex, integrated test environments, particularly in AWS, with adeptness in project planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • AWS Proficiency: Strong knowledge of the AWS cloud platform.
  • Infrastructure Automation: Experience with infrastructure as code tools (eg, Terraform, Ansible) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Observability and Monitoring: Proficiency in observability and monitoring of test environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certifications: Solutions Architect Associate or higher.
  • Containerization Skills: Docker, Kubernetes.
  • DevOps Experience: Emphasizing collaboration, automation, and monitoring.
  • ISTQB Certification: Advanced level or equivalent.
