Role: Data Migration Engineer (Healthcare)
Type: 6-month contract initially (highly likely to be extended to 12 months)
Start date: February 2026
Rate: £375 per day (Outside IR35)
Travel: Remote with occasional travel for company meetings

iO Associates are working with a healthcare software provider delivering large-scale clinical data migration programmes for NHS Trusts. We are looking for an experienced Data Migration Engineer to support the extraction, cleansing, validation and migration of healthcare data from Legacy systems into a clinical data repository.

This is a hands-on contract role focused on end-to-end data migration across multiple NHS environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyse and profile data from Legacy healthcare systems
• Extract clinical data from systems such as EPR, PAS, PACS, RIS and LIMS
• Cleanse, standardise and transform data for migration
• Develop and run SQL queries, scripts and ETL processes
• Validate migrated data to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Work with technical and clinical stakeholders to resolve data issues
• Identify risks and report progress throughout the migration life cycle
• Support continuous improvement and automation of migration processes

Skills required:

• Strong experience delivering healthcare data migration projects, ideally within NHS Trust environments
• Proven background in data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL)
• Advanced SQL skills working with large datasets
• Experience with healthcare data formats and standards (eg FHIR, HL7, DICOM)
• Scripting experience (eg Python, PowerShell, JavaScript)
• Experience with ETL tools (SSIS, Talend, Informatica)
• XDS or clinical data registry experience
• Solid understanding of GDPR and NHS data standards
• Comfortable working independently in a remote contract role
• Excellent verbal and written comms, confident collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

This is a 6-month contract paying up to £375 per day (Outside IR35), with a strong likelihood of extension to 12 months.
