We're hiring to drive Scribd's Web Modernization program and build Front End foundations for our next generation of web product experiences.

What You'll Do

Senior Software Engineer, Web Platform - lead modernization workstreams by migrating complex Legacy web applications into a modern Microfrontend ecosystem. Create repeatable migration patterns and shared foundations for other teams, while maintaining performance, developer experience, and user impact during the transition. This is a hands-on role with broad influence: ship production-ready Front End code, define patterns and boundaries, and partner cross-functionally to make architectural change practical and durable.

You will also:

• Lead major modernization workstreams and migrations to a Next.js-powered Microfrontend architecture
• Develop scalable Front End patterns and reusable foundations
• Collaborate with product and platform teams to ensure delivery goals

Experience We Value

• 6+ years of professional Front End software engineering experience
• Deep experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React
• Hands-on experience with Next.js or similar modern web frameworks
• Experience with large, complex, or Legacy Front End codebases
• Familiarity with Microfrontend architectures, monorepos, or shared Front End platforms
• Familiarity integrating modern frontends with Rails-backed systems is a plus
• Strong understanding of web performance, bundling, and optimization techniques
• Experience collaborating with Back End and platform teams to define clean integration patterns
• Comfort operating in high-traffic, high-visibility environments with real user impact

Compensation and Benefits

At Scribd, base pay is part of total compensation and varies by location. Salary ranges:

• California (San Francisco area): $146,000 - $227,500
• United States (outside California): $120,000 - $216,500
• Canada: CAD 152,500 - CAD 202,000
